MPAG Newsletter from our President Jan. 2023

Greetings fellow Artists,

Happy New Year. Please join us January 9,2023 for our first meeting of the New Year. The meeting will be held at the All Saints Lutheran Church, Highway 17 next to Sol restaurant and the Holiday Inn Express. Meet and greet 6:30-7 pm. Meeting at 7 pm. Our guest artist is Charles Steven.

We had a great turnout at our December Christmas meeting. Many thanks to all who came and brought art supplies. We had a huge bag of donations for the Miriam Brown Community Center's after school program. Special thanks to Kathy Bates for delivering those.

Moving forward, it’s time to get organized for Artfest. Held at Town Center Mall March 11, 2023. If you signed up to volunteer, you will be receiving an email from Lucy Richmond with instructions.

Finally, please spread the word about our guild. Invite friends and boost our membership.

Warm regards,

Robin Beckner

President MPAG

Charles Steven, Guest Artist for January Meeting

Charles Steven is a self-taught artist with fond memories of growing up in Beaufort. Spending 26 years as a commercial artist, he became proficient in a number of technical genres. However, his fondest dream was always to paint the overwhelming beauty of the Lowcountry.

Perspective Gallery News

The Gallery has had a strong year. We have had a lot of brand-new customers moving into the area to purchase art for their new homes or visit to check out the local artwork. Customers always compliment the quality of artwork that the gallery artists have hanging on the walls, as well as the gallery itself. Thank you, artists, for your work and commitment to make the gallery a peaceful, beautiful experience.

Daniel Strickland will be our January Artist of the Month. Daniel lives in Georgetown with his family and enjoys painting in acrylic. He will have a reception Saturday, January 14, from 1 to 5 pm.

The Steering committee and I wish you all the best for 2023.

Thank you,

DeeDee Conant, Director

Becky Taylor, Michael Kennedy, Anne Brownyard and Betsy McDonald Steering Committee Members.

Daniel Strickland, Artist of the Month

Born and raised in the Lowcountry, Daniel Strickland spent nearly a decade as a tour guide in Charleston. Years ago, while teaching martial arts at a local art gallery, he became inspired to paint his beloved Lowcountry.

Daniel will have a reception on Saturday, January 14, 1:00-5:00 pm.

Daniel's acrylic paintings are alive with color. He enjoys creating expressive atmospheric works that are designed so that the viewer will have a hard time taking eyes off the work.
