Recently, for mental relief, I have added still life and landscape painting to my repertoire.

I am proud to be part of Perspective Gallery. I am inspired by the works of art that surround me.

Not long ago, I met with a wildlife painter that I admire greatly. She had been thinking about beginning a mentoring program. During our discussion, she asked me “what is your goal?”

I have spent considerable time thinking about that. My conclusion is this:

I WANT TO CREATE AS MUCH FINE ART AS I CAN.

I WANT TO SHOW IT TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS I CAN.

A Kaleidoscope View:  “Kaleidoscope” comes from the Greek word Kalos which means beautiful.  In our vernacular it means a constantly changing set of colors created by mirrors.  In Mary Johnson Voss’s world it represents the constantly changing beauty of God’s creation as mirrored by her art.       Mary’s exposure to art began at an early age as she was raised in a family who had a love and appreciation for all aspects of art.  Mary graduated from Stephens College and continued her formal education at the Detroit Art Institute, and the University of Cincinnati and has also studied with many Art, Design, and Fashion professionals from around the world.  After working for several years in Design and Fashion a move in 2000 to Charleston, SC resulted in a change of direction of Mary’s creative spirit and  she returned to her first love of Studio Art and painting nearly every day.      Mary uses watercolors, oils, pastels, and silk dyes to covey what her eyes see in the world around her.  Her love of color, attention to detail, and the ability to capture “a moment in time”, helps viewers see beauty, not only in the entire composition, but also in the important details, making the canvas come alive.      “There are so many things which distract us from taking time to experience the beauty of God’s magnificent creation. So take a beak from your hectic schedule in this fast paced world of ours, and share with me the extraordinary and  exquisite beauty of the everyday things that surround us. It is my desire to share my art with others so that they may, if only for a moment, sense God’s presence".
