Lucy Richmond
Growing up in Maryland, as the daughter of an oil painter, I was exposed to art at an early age. I did not, however, develop a serious interest in painting until adulthood.
My career was in nursing, and in between the job and raising three children, I took classes and workshops at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, DC, and the Art League School in Alexandria, Virginia.
My early focus was on portrait painting, and I studied under Dannie Dawson and Robert Liberace. After enjoying painting in Italy, my interests changed to plein air painting, which led to further classes with notable landscape artist, Sara Linda Poly, and workshops throughout Italy.
I paint what inspires me, and I work mostly in oils. I consider myself primarily a realist, as I like to stay true to the subject.
I am a member of both the Mt Pleasant Artists Guild and the Charleston Artists Guild, The American Impressionistic Society and Oil Painters of America.
